Hedge Trimming & Reduction
A hedge is the most visible thing on most South Florida properties, and the fastest to look neglected. Ficus, clusia, areca, podocarpus and cocoplum all grow hard here, and once a privacy screen gets away from you it takes real cutting to bring back.

Hedge questions
When should a hedge be reduced rather than trimmed?
When it has grown past the height you actually want, is shading windows or a neighbouring property, or has become so wide it's taking over a walkway or bed. Trimming maintains the current size; reduction resets it.
How often do hedges need trimming in South Florida?
Fast growers like ficus and clusia push new growth most of the year and typically need attention several times a year to stay crisp. Slower material can go longer between visits.
Will a hard reduction leave the hedge bare?
For a while, yes — cutting back into old wood exposes the interior until it refills. How well it recovers depends on the species and the season, so we tell you what to expect before we start.
Do you handle hedges as part of ongoing maintenance?
Yes. Hedges, shrubs and trees can be maintained on the same schedule as part of landscape maintenance.
