Planting for this climate, not a catalogue
Coastal Palm Beach County is a specific set of conditions: sandy, fast-draining soil, salt wind on the barrier island, intense summer sun and heavy seasonal rain. Plant material that looks fine in a nursery lot can struggle badly in the wrong position here.
We choose species and positions based on what holds up on the property in question, and we are straight with you about what will need regular attention to look the way you want it to.
Installation, renovation and privacy planting
Most of the landscaping we're called for falls into one of these three jobs.
Landscape installation
Putting the plan in the ground: trees, palms, hedges, shrubs and flowering material, plus bed preparation, mulch and decorative stone. Material is chosen for the growing conditions of the specific site rather than what happens to be on the truck.
Landscape renovation
Reworking grounds that have outgrown their layout — removing overgrown or failing planting, reshaping beds, replanting at correct spacing and keeping the mature trees and palms worth keeping. Renovations can be phased rather than done all at once.
Privacy landscaping
Living screens that block a specific view: layered hedges, clumping palms and trees placed where the sightline actually is. More useful than a fence in most South Florida yards, and it keeps looking better as it fills in.
Landscaping for privacy
Privacy planting works when it's planned around the thing you want screened — a neighbouring second floor, a road, a pool deck overlooked from next door. We stand where you stand, work out the height and depth the screen actually needs, and choose material that reaches it without becoming a maintenance problem.
Layering matters more than a single row: taller trees or palms for height, hedge material at eye level, lower shrubs to close the base. Species choice depends on the exposure, how much trimming you want to sign up for and how fast you need coverage. Tree and plant selection
Plant selection is the decision that determines whether a landscape looks right in five years. Scott takes clients to the nursery to hand-select the trees and plants together, so you see the actual specimens going into your property instead of a name on a list.
Selections take account of sunlight, soil and drainage, mature size, privacy needs, storm exposure, maintenance appetite and how the plant fits the rest of the landscape design.

Do you do residential and commercial landscaping?
Yes. Arbor works on private homes and estates as well as commercial, condominium and HOA properties in the West Palm Beach area.
Can you work with the plants already on the property?
Usually. Existing palms, specimen trees and healthy shrubs are worth keeping, and some can be relocated within the property rather than replaced.
Do you handle irrigation and sod as part of a landscape job?
Landscape installations are scoped in person, and what's included depends on the property and the plan. We'll be specific about what is and isn't part of the work before it starts.
